New Scholarship Opportunities:

Congratulations to our First Graduating Class at Frassati Catholic Academy:
On Wednesday, June 4, 2015, fifteen eighth grade students graduated from Frassati Catholic Academy. They are moving on to different high schools to continue their educational journeys and will have many opportunities to put into practice the faith and knowledge they have learned here at Frassati! We are thankful for and immensely proud of these students. We ask that God may bless them during their high school years and may they know the special place they hold in our Frassati Catholic Academy school community. Congratulations to our first graduates of the Class of 2015.

Frassati Catholic Academy Sy Bendel Memorial Scholarship

An ongoing scholarship was established at Frassati Catholic Academy in 2014, in memory of Sy Bendel who died on July 27, 2014.  The scholarship is expected to be funded on an annual basis, in an amount between $2,500 and $5,000, with funding to occur by June 30th for the following school year.

Sy grew up with limited means shortly after the Great Depression.  A learning disability made school difficult, but after serving in the Korean War, he worked to the best of his abilities (overcoming those challenges) and graduated from the College of St. Thomas with a degree in Chemistry.  Proud of this achievement, he impressed on his children the benefits of attending Catholic grade school, high school, and college.  Devoted to his Catholic faith, throughout his life Sy demonstrated a serving heart, had an inquisitive nature, and a passion for science and the outdoors.

Awards will be given in $500 increments to prospective or existing students of Frassati who embody traits similar to Sy – especially working up to their potential and serving others.  Preference will be given to applicants who, without the award might otherwise be unable to attend Frassati.

Please complete this form and submit it to Frassati’s Principal Patrick Gallivan at 4690 Bald Eagle Avenue, White Bear Lake, MN 55110.  Mr. Gallivan will review the applications with one of Sy’s immediate family members (typically his wife Betty) who will make determinations.  Please be specific as detailed information is critical in the selection process (all information will be kept confidential).
