Grow with us! Josie DaRosa – Grade 7, Guest Blogger

I wanted to thank Frassati Catholic Academy for always supporting me, and helping me to set and reach goals, and teaching me to never give up. Through my years at Frassati, I have developed and strengthened many different skills such as leadership, patience, and cooperation. I learned this in preschool and early elementary school as I looked up to the 8th graders as role models. I now have the unique experience to be a role model and understand how important that is to the younger Frassati Falcons. I enjoy my time with the younger students and I have learned about the wonderful gift of mentorship.   I have also developed friendships that I am sure will last a lifetime.

As I grew at Frassati, my faith did as well. The religion classes always encouraged me to be more faithful and to trust in God. Every day at Frassati I learn something new. All of the teachers encourage us to be the best version of ourselves. Once again, I want to thank Frassati for allowing me to grow into the person I am today. I am ready for the future!

Grow with us! Sara Mueller, Religion Teacher

My personal opportunities for growth here at Frassati certainly match those of my students.  Daily exchanges in the classroom are always enlightening, sometimes challenging, and even occasionally frustrating. But, the true joy of this profession comes in realizing that these feelings are a result of dealing with the “whole child”… unique individuals, with vibrant personalities, zeal for faith, and a thirst for knowledge.

Over the past few years, it has been a marvel to witness students’ growth: physically, mentally, and spiritually, from elementary school to middle school. It shouldn’t surprise you that, as a religion teacher, I find spiritual growth the most rewarding. I love the challenge of making Catholicism relevant to adolescents in today’s secular culture. As I watch them embrace our beautiful faith, I have a renewed confidence in the future of our society. These children are going to make a difference in the world.

I grew up in Mahtomedi, traveled out to the Ohio Valley for college, and have now made my way back to the Twin Cities. I received my Bachelor of Science Degree in Education from Franciscan University.  I love reading, exercising, traveling, and spending time with my family. I am also one of those crazy people that LOVE winter!  Teaching at Frassati continues to be a great blessing in my life, and I am privileged to be a part of the team.

When you walk into Frassati Catholic Academy, you instantly know you are in a school that values you: mind, body and spirit. It’s a place where we knew our children would learn the basics of Math, Science and Technology, but just as importantly, they would learn respect. Respect for other kids, teachers, ideas and most importantly for God. A God who guided us to this school and allowed us to stay in a place where education and faith are so strongly connected.

We specifically chose Frassati, because we fell in love with the brilliance of our teachers. Our teachers are some of the most self-sacrificing and loving people in education. The countless hours and hundreds of dollars of their own money they donate to our students is amazing. Frassati teachers pour themselves whole-heartedly into their classrooms, lesson plans and our children. They work to improve our kids’ education by devoting their nights, weekends and summers to learning the latest in college STEM courses making our school exceptional. That devotion of time, talent and treasure by our teachers secured our place in the Frassati family for years to come.
