Matching Grant Opportunity for Frassati Catholic Academy

The Richard Schulze Family Foundation recently announced a $1 million summer challenge grant opportunity for the 79 Catholic elementary schools of the Archdiocese. The purpose of the grants is to positively impact enrollment for the upcoming school year.  The Schulze Foundation announced this week that a challenge grant in the amount of $25,000 has been approved for Frassati. If families and supporters of Frassati Catholic Academy are able to raise $25,000 by August 21, 2020, the Schulze Family Foundation will match our funds.  The money raised will be used for financial aid, advertising, technology and safety protocols.  If we meet our goal, the grant money will be used to upgrade reading and math curriculum, improve teacher technology, increase financial aid, and develop a more consistent outreach to alumni of our Catholic schools in White Bear Lake and friends of Catholic education. Frassati Fall 2020 Update

We know there are many questions about the fall and we want to communicate our plan based on the information we have today June 29, 2020.

Plan A:
Principal Gallivan is working with multiple committees to plan for the return of our students to the Frassati building this fall. The Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis has established the Catholic School Task Force made up of experts in education, finance, communication, law, public and mental health. The task force is working in conjunction with the Catholic Schools Center of Excellence to support their work. Mr. Gallivan remain active in these meetings to ensure that our children will remain as safe as possible while returning to school on September 8, 2020.
Plan B:
Mr. Gallivan is also working on hybrid plans that would be used in the event that future circumstances require fewer students on campus together at one time. The hybrid model consists of students attending school in smaller groups and elements of distance learning. This plan is only for circumstances that prohibit all students from being in school at the same time. However, in school contact with teachers is essential to continue the learning process.
Plan C: Last Resort
The final plan consists of distance learning. This plan would only be used as a last resort. Mr. Gallivan continues to monitor the recommendations of the CDC, MN Department of Health, and the American Society of Pediatrics. It is our goal to use distance learning as a last resort.

Preventative Measures

The district continues to monitor updates from the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and will keep families and staff members informed as the situation evolves.

As we all work to be healthy, it is important to remember to take the same precautions recommended for avoiding colds and flu:

  • Wash your hands often with soap and water.
  • Avoid close contact.
  • Stay home if you are sick.
  • Cover coughs and sneezes.
