Catherine Urban (Religion)

Life is full of blessings. Growing up in St. Paul, I was able to attend Catholic schools my whole life. Then, I ventured away from home, getting an undergraduate degree from the University of San Diego; my teaching license and a Master of Arts in Teaching from the University of St. Thomas.  Currently, I am in my second year at the Catechetical Institute at St. Thomas in the Pier Georgio Frassati cohort. My husband and I are members of St. Rose of Lima Parish in Roseville, our kids attended St. Rose of Lima School and I taught in the Religious Ed. program for many years..

I have come full circle in my teaching career, starting at Maternity of Mary, going overseas to the American Community School in Athens, Greece, then coming home to teach in the Bloomington school district until I took a leave of absence to stay home with our kids.  My return to work full time was with the informal educational system, working with students at the Minnesota Historical Society, then over nine years of School Outreach with the Science Museum of Minnesota. At Frassati, I teach about our Catholic faith to students grades 5 through 8 and am very excited about our STREAM framework of education. I feel very blessed to share my faith and experience with this learning community.  Please feel free to come up to Rm. 214 anytime to visit our school tortoise Russell – he loves visitors.
