Attention all parents: We Love Our FCA Staff Luncheon

A group of volunteers will be hosting a luncheon to show the FCA Staff how much we appreciate them for their hard work and dedication.  The luncheon will be held on Thursday, February 12.  We need parents/grandparents to sign up to provide something for the luncheon or to volunteer to help with the luncheon and lunchroom duty (so that staff can attend the luncheon).  Volunteers need to have had Virtus training and a background check.

Please email or call Deana Klein to sign-up or ask questions (contact school office for her contact info).  When signing up please be specific on what you are signing up for (i.e. type of salad or soup to minimize duplications). Thank you in advance for your assistance and generosity.

Below are some of the items needed for the luncheon:

Paper Products (Valentine theme/colors preferred):

1.  Paper plates, large and small– 2 packs of 24 each

2.  Plastic bowls–2 packs of 24

3.  Cups

4.  Napkins

5.  Silverware

6.  Plastic table cloths — 6 total in pink, white, purple, and/or red

Salads:

1.  5 salads

2.  Relish tray

Soups:

1.  6 soups

Meat and Cheese Tray:

1.  1 large or 2 small

Bread

1.  4 loaves of artisan bread-sliced

2.  2 boxes of crackers

Condiments

1.  Butter–small container

2.  Mayo–small container

3.  Mustard–small container

Desserts

A variety of cookies, bars, treats, etc.

Beverages

Six 2-liter bottles of pop

Volunteers

1.  Luncheon – 1 person from 10:30 – 1:00

2.  Lunchroom – 2 people from 10:30 – 12:30

Misc.  Items will be needed for the day only and will be returned at the end of the day

1.  2-3 power strips

2.  Three-level tiered servers

Correction to the February Calendar:  The K-3 field trip to the Children’s Theatre is scheduled for 2/10/15 (not 2/11/15).  Permission slips have not yet been sent.

FCA Hockey Families:  If you have not yet paid your $75 sport fee, please send it in as soon as possible. 

Things to Know

  • Mr. Gallivan will be out of the building all week.  His emails and voicemails will be responded to when he returns on Monday, January 26.
  • Catholic Schools Week info was sent last week (Friday).  Contact the office if you need it resent.
  • Permission slips/fees for Pinz bowling are due Friday, January 23.
  • Middle school students will receive their Feed My Starving Children permission slips tomorrow (1/21/15).

February lunch orders – due January 23:  A hard copy of the menu and calendar (2 sided document) was sent home last week.  An electronic copy of the menu is attached.  Follow this link to access the online order form: http://tinyurl.com/FCA-February2015.  Please fill one form out for each child that will be taking hot lunch.  This is a great time to replenish your lunch account.  Contact the office if you’d like to know your current balance.

Remember to:

1.        Enter your child’s name (last, first).
2.        Choose your child’s grade.
3.        Select the lunches you wish to purchase by clicking on “Yes or No”.  The cold alternative is only available on Mondays.  To order this alternative select “Cold Alt”.
4.        Please record, before you click submit, what days your child will be taking hot lunch.

If your child would like to order seconds for any meal you will need to complete a second form for that child. Check the “yes” button for the meals for which you would like to order seconds. Check “no” for all other meals.

Catholic Schools Week is next week and we are seeking volunteer help for several events.  See the info below and please reply to me, Peggy Kemp, if you are able to assist us.  Volunteers need to have attended Virtus, completed a background check and signed a code of conduct.

Attention Volunteers – Upcoming Virtus Training at St. Mary of the Lake

St. Mary of the Lake Church will host a Virtus Training session in Kohler Hall on Saturday, January 24 at 8:30 a.m.  Virtus training is required for all school volunteers who work with children.

Register for the training by following these steps:

  1. Go to the website: www.virtus.org
  2. Click on the “Registration” tab on the left side of the screen
  3. Click on “View list of sessions”
  4. Choose ‘St. Paul and Minneapolis, MN’ in the “Select your organization” tab
  5. A list will be generated of upcoming sessions in our area.  Choose a class that works for you.  Once you are ready to sign up, click the ‘Start Registration’ button at the top of the page.  You will then create a User ID and password and register for the class of your choice.

Bring a Crockpot Specialty to share!
Please bring your favorite crockpot dish, whether that’s an appetizer, entrée or dessert AND/OR your favorite case of beer to share.
Water and pop will be provided.

New this year, childcare will be provided by our 8th grade students! The cost is $10 per child or $20 per family. RSVP is required for childcare. The kids will be provided lunch.

If you would like to play in the bags tournament, please enter your name by 12:45 p.m.
Teams will begin promptly at 1:00 p.m.

Swim Team Update – Registration due Wednesday, January 14

2. Authorization form – All swimmers must turn in this form, along with their fee by January 14.
