Grow with us! Sara Mueller, Religion Teacher

Mueller

“GROWING AT FRASSATI”

My personal opportunities for growth here at Frassati certainly match those of my students.  Daily exchanges in the classroom are always enlightening, sometimes challenging, and even occasionally frustrating. But, the true joy of this profession comes in realizing that these feelings are a result of dealing with the “whole child”… unique individuals, with vibrant personalities, zeal for faith, and a thirst for knowledge.

Over the past few years, it has been a marvel to witness students’ growth: physically, mentally, and spiritually, from elementary school to middle school. It shouldn’t surprise you that, as a religion teacher, I find spiritual growth the most rewarding. I love the challenge of making Catholicism relevant to adolescents in today’s secular culture. As I watch them embrace our beautiful faith, I have a renewed confidence in the future of our society. These children are going to make a difference in the world.

Sara Mueller Bio

I grew up in Mahtomedi, traveled out to the Ohio Valley for college, and have now made my way back to the Twin Cities. I received my Bachelor of Science Degree in Education from Franciscan University.  I love reading, exercising, traveling, and spending time with my family. I am also one of those crazy people that LOVE winter!  Teaching at Frassati continues to be a great blessing in my life, and I am privileged to be a part of the team.

Youth Safety Event–Thurs. Nov 19 5:30-7:45 PM

Calling all parents!

White Bear Lake Area Schools and the White Bear Lake Police Department will host a District-Wide Safety Information Night from 6-8:15 p.m. on November 19, 2013 at WBLAHS – South Campus. A free dinner will be served from 5:30-6 p.m. that evening to attendees, and free childcare will be available for those attendees who need it.

During this event, parents will be able to attend two breakout sessions on the following topics: Internet Safety, Teen Driving Laws and Safety, Youth Drug Trends and Awareness, Healthy Relationships and Safe Dating. The evening was scheduled in such a way that a family who sends two adult participants can cover all four topics, which were selected based upon topics that are most requested by parents, and especially parents of preteens and teens.

Find a “Cop’s Corner” article about the event in the Nov. 5 issue of the White Bear Press or available online here.

New Scholarship Opportunities:

Congratulations to our First Graduating Class at Frassati Catholic Academy:
On Wednesday, June 4, 2015, fifteen eighth grade students graduated from Frassati Catholic Academy. They are moving on to different high schools to continue their educational journeys and will have many opportunities to put into practice the faith and knowledge they have learned here at Frassati! We are thankful for and immensely proud of these students. We ask that God may bless them during their high school years and may they know the special place they hold in our Frassati Catholic Academy school community. Congratulations to our first graduates of the Class of 2015.

New Scholarship Opportunities:
New Families:
We are excited to announce that Frassati Catholic Academy recently received a grant in the amount of $10,000 from the Richard M. Schulze Foundation.  This grant was given with the express purpose of helping us increase our school enrollment and is effective June 22, 2015.

We are announcing two types of tuition credits designed to attract new students and families to Frassati Catholic Academy.

• $1,000 Transfer Credit- for new students who enroll at FCA from another non-Catholic School
• $250 Referral Credit- off of your family tuition for every student you refer who enrolls in our school

Frassati Catholic Academy Sy Bendel Memorial Scholarship

An ongoing scholarship was established at Frassati Catholic Academy in 2014, in memory of Sy Bendel who died on July 27, 2014.  The scholarship is expected to be funded on an annual basis, in an amount between $2,500 and $5,000, with funding to occur by June 30th for the following school year.

Sy grew up with limited means shortly after the Great Depression.  A learning disability made school difficult, but after serving in the Korean War, he worked to the best of his abilities (overcoming those challenges) and graduated from the College of St. Thomas with a degree in Chemistry.  Proud of this achievement, he impressed on his children the benefits of attending Catholic grade school, high school, and college.  Devoted to his Catholic faith, throughout his life Sy demonstrated a serving heart, had an inquisitive nature, and a passion for science and the outdoors.

Awards will be given in $500 increments to prospective or existing students of Frassati who embody traits similar to Sy – especially working up to their potential and serving others.  Preference will be given to applicants who, without the award might otherwise be unable to attend Frassati.

Please complete this form and submit it to Frassati’s Principal Patrick Gallivan at 4690 Bald Eagle Avenue, White Bear Lake, MN 55110.  Mr. Gallivan will review the applications with one of Sy’s immediate family members (typically his wife Betty) who will make determinations.  Please be specific as detailed information is critical in the selection process (all information will be kept confidential).

Name of Applicant: ____________________________________________

Would this scholarship influence your ability to attend Frassati? ________________ (Y/N)
